Full time teacher (7:30 am - 4:00 pm) compensation:

RD$26,000 pesos (approx US$470) per month rising to 28,000 in the second year

US$100 country exit fee coverage (upon completion of contract)

US$200 flight reimbursement (upon completion of contract)

Christmas Bonus

Option to tutor after school for RD$300 pesos per hour

*Please note that the average salary in the Dominican Republic is approximately RD$15,000 so our compensation package makes for comfortable living.

Job Content

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Elementary homeroom teachers are the primary teachers responsible for their class.  Homeroom teachers must teach English, maths, science, and social studies and there is flexibility in the timetable for each teacher to include special classes such as reading, music or life lessons.  Teachers will teach 5 lessons with 2 prep periods a day.  This equates to approximately 20 teaching hours per week.

Middle and high school subject teachers are responsible for planning and teaching lessons in their subject to all classes either in middle or high school.  Generally, teachers are based in one classroom and the students rotate between their classes.  Teachers will have an average of 4 classes per day which should equate to approximately 20 teaching hours per week.

REQUIREMENTS::

TEFL/TESOL/CELTA qualification

Bachelor’s degree

Enthusiasm 

The ability to work independently

Flexibility and willingness to adapt to change

Preferred:

Degree in Education or a relevant subject

Experience teaching in a school

Proof of DBS or other criminal record check
